OK, an update of what's happening in my life at the moment. I'm busy as always. Too much to do at work means ten-hour days, but that suits me fine as long as it doesn't go on for too long. I hate having too little to do at work, that means I lose discipline and feel like a worthless, lazy idling shit.
A new play-by-server-mediated-email Diplomacy campaign has just started; I played England in the previous one and ended up as one of the participants of a three-way draw. I would have preferred to press on for a shared win, but Russia didn't dare to challenge Turkey...
I & L. have to write/edit the member fanzine for Sveriges Fanzineförenings March delivery. All contributions are welcome, whether they have anything to do with science fiction and fandom or not.
The SAAM board meets again on February 13, and after that it's time to nominate for the Alvar as usual this time of year. Carolina is a given candidate, I assume, but other than that, who knows. We'll see.
Then it's the G banquet, on March 20 it seems. I tried to get involved this year, but as usual other things got in the way and as things are here at work I'm definitely out the loop now - as usual. I hope the others don't think I'm too much of a lazy bastard who never does anything to help. :-(
And then I turn 40 in March, and I guess I will try to invite people over on Saturday the 13th to drink and be merry. The plans are not very ambitious, but firming up. I have no idea how to satisfy my mother's presumed desire to have a more intimate family gathering, though; we live too far apart and I don't have the time to go down to Stockholm or to Strängnäs to celebrate my birthday. I'll see if they want to come up to Uppsala on the 11th. Turning 40 doesn't bother me; I see no real reason to celebrate it, but partying is always fun. Any excuse... And at last I get to open that 1964 Madeira! Yum!
Then I really should try to study some Irish to be able to participate in the Celtic Society's Irish talk group evenings.
And I have the Rohan RPG chronicle to update with what happened last time we played in November.
I think that's all. Thank Ghu I managed to finish the translation of the Swanwick short story I promised Ben Roimola. It will appear in the next issue of Enhörningen. Now back to work!
