1. books about books:
   I am a book fanatic. Not quite a bibliophile, so far the contents are more important than the packaging, but I'm getting there. I am also hopelessly into meta discussions, so I have a deep and abiding fascination for books about books.
2. cooking:
   I am not really into cooking in a serious way, but I love good food and cooking is the empowerment skill needed to produce your own stuff. Plus I get a kick out of people eating what I cook and saying they like it. (Probably this is just the kick I get from having people tell me they like me, I guess now that I think about it. Funny, for some reason that never struck me before.)
3. fandom:
   This is my tribe. The informal network of science fiction fans around the globe. They are no better than the rest of humanity, no brighter or nicer, but they are the group I belong to.
4. garlic:
   Garlic. What other culinary treat protects you from vampires and lowers your blood pressure?
5. kissing:
   Being in love and kissing, what sweeter occupation?
6. open directory project:
   Maybe I shouldn't keep this on my interest list, I haven't been active there for a while, but I have learnt much and have had a lot of fun in this community.
7. science fiction conventions:
   This is where we science fiction fans meet to talk, listen and party. Beers, conversation and books, for days in a row. How can you not love it?
8. sushi:
   No comments. Yum.
9. tove jansson:
   I am so fortunate in being able to read the Moomin books in the original language. The Moomin family has always been with me, and always will be. More human than us humans.
10. words:
    Words, words, words. They make up conversation, they make up books. They are the molecules of my universe.

cooking

If, for any weird reason, you find yourself in the States anywhere near me, I will cook a massive meal for you, as best as I can. I love to cook, but I love even more to eat!

garlic

What I don't get is how anyone can think of garlic as a bad smell. IF I walk into your house and it smells like garlic, then, rest assured, I'm going to be comfortable.

One day we'll meet at a Talossafest, you know that and I know that. I don't know if we're ever going to visit Florida, but I assume you will be living in New York within 5-10 years, and then we'll come and visit you there. And you can cook!

Yep. An 85-yr-old Sicilian grandmother told me that my spaghetti sauce was better than hers. Garlic, baby!
