St Paddy crowding

We threw a combined St Patrick's Day and birthday party (my birthday was on the 11th, jlms's was yesterday) last Saturday. Even though the turnout was slightly lower than at the big, everyone's welcome parties we've thrown the last few years, it was really too busy for a couple of hours, so we didn't have a chance to actually talk to people until half of them had left.

This was for two reasons, I think: At our previous parties people have dropped in more evenly during the evening and this time 30 of the 40 people who eventually turned up did so within 45 minutes, and for some reason they refused to spread out in the house, instead forming a thick crowd in the kitchen and the upper living room. (I'm not too fond of crowds.)

I think the next time we'll have to reduce the invitation list so we don't get to be more than 25 or so, or we'd have to make it an all day drop-in thing. It was good fun, though, especially the later part when I had time to sit down, relax and enjoy myself. And we do have the best friends!

Intressantast kommentar: "Är du hennes mamma?" (Frågan ställd till Dessy, angående den fillipinska tjejen som jag har glömt vad hon hette, av någon som förmodligen borde vilja vara anonym.)

Mest förvånande fråga: "Va? Vill du inte ha en katt? Jag trodde att du tyckte om katter. Du är fan, ju!". Jag måste uppenbarligen bli mer högljutt missionerande. Eller träffa folk oftare.

Du kan ju säga att du är dubbelt så förtjust i choklad som genomsnittsfanen, så att det inte blev plats för att tycka om katter. (Det stämmer förmodligen också.)

Dessy måste ju vara säkert sex år äldre än Liezl eller något. Men går man på storleken, så. Liezl är väl den minsta människa jag är bekant med som är över 13 år gammal...
